Why You Should Never Focus on Commission

Sellers can sometimes focus on how much commission they are going to pay. Instead they should be focus on how much money their Realtor is going to net them from the sale. That’s all that should matter. If you want maximum selling price and the net maximum amount in your pocket, then you need to implement several things. One of the most important is to attract buyers who are currently working with other Realtors (vast majority of buyers will be working with Realtors). To do this you need to offer an incentive. It’s called a full co-operating commission. Put yourself in the buying Realtors shoes. The typical buying Realtor is going to spend an average 75 hours working with that buyer in searching, writing an offer, negotiating the offer and closing the sale. That’s a lot of time and money out of the Realtor’s pocket. Ask yourself do you think these buying Realtors are going to work for free?
